Operations Manager
Location: Mvuvi Boutique Resort
We are looking for a hands-on, highly organized and guest-focused Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the resort and ensure an exceptional experience for every guest.
This is a dynamic role for someone who enjoys being present on the floor, leading a team, solving problems and maintaining high hospitality standards across all departments.
- Be a visible point of contact for guests and ensure a warm, personalized experience throughout their stay.
- Handle guest requests, feedback and complaints professionally and proactively.
- Oversee daily hotel operations across front office, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, garden, spa, F&B and activities.
- Conduct regular room and property inspections to ensure excellent cleanliness and maintenance standards.
- Coordinate arrivals, departures, airport transfers, excursions, activities, special occasions and guest requests.
- Supervise the spa, activities and guest experience offering, including watersports and excursions.
- Work closely with the F&B team on dietary requirements, private dinners and special events.
- Lead daily operational briefings and ensure strong communication between departments.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, staff performance and weekly rosters.
- Monitor guest reviews and help maintain and strengthen the hotel’s online reputation.
- Ensure hotel SOPs are followed and continuously improved together with ownership.
- Oversee guest billing, POS closures, checkout accounts and supporting documentation.
- Report directly to the owners on daily operations, guest experience, staffing and key operational matters.
A warm, professional, and solution-oriented hospitality leader with excellent communication and organizational skills. You should be comfortable working in a small boutique hotel environment where attention to detail, flexibility, teamwork, and genuine guest interaction are essential.
- Minimum 4 years of experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar hospitality management role, ideally within a boutique hotel
- Degree or diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Economics, or a related field preferred
- Fluent in English; knowledge of French and/or Italian is a strong advantage
- Previous experience working in Zanzibar or East Africa preferred
Mvuvi Boutique Resort is an intimate 24-room beachfront boutique hotel on the white sands of Kiwengwa, Zanzibar. Spread across two nearby locations, our resort combines personalized hospitality with beachfront dining, swimming pools, spa and yoga experiences, watersports and island activities.
